Although using a dual card configuration halves each cards bus speed, a dual card config, eg Crossfire or SLI is always considered the faster solution.
In reality there is no software or game out there now that will show visible difference for the 2 configurations, and since the dual card is relatively new, I’d leave it for later when the technology matures, it’s a philosophy I like to follow that has never failed me.
So in your case just get a Motherboard that is ready for Dual configuration and buy 1 card at first, and leave the option to buy another when you’re sure you’ll need it.
Summary: get the HD 7979 (single card) it’s a beast on it’s own, I bet you’ll never have to upgrade, and you’ll save on electrical power and your PC will have less noise.
