ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!,
This card is incredible! While it is big (12″ to be exact) this card packs A LOT of power. It is literally 2 6970s (slightly underclocked) in one. Games like Crysis are a breeze to play. You can no longer settle with Crysis at the measly settings that the game offers. This card allows you to go to the next step! That being going through the AMD driver (CCC) and improving upon the settings EVEN MORE! Blasting the AA to 24x, adding super sampling on top of that, AF to 16x, etc etc and at 1080p. AND EVEN THEN that is nothing for this card. You can now go to the next step in installing all the latest graphical mods and physics mods such as “Real Lifesis” and “Xtreme physics” and still getting 50+ FPS at 1080p!
So let me recap.
This card will allow you to play Crysis 1 at a resolution of 1920×1080 at 24x AA WITH super sampling applied, 16x AF, AND with the “Real Lifesis” & “Xtreme physics” while maintaining 50+ FPS! That is incredible!
Now you are probably wondering why this is NOT a 5 star review. While this card is BLISTERING fast it also gets BLISTERING hot. The cards cooler is less than desired for a card of this stature. Without overclocking and utilizing stock fan speeds the card averages between 85c and 95c depending on the games load. And idles around 50c. The back plate gets so hot, it is untouchable to the human finger without causing sever burns. (YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED)
The blower style fan is also less than wanted if you are attempting to maintain a quiet case. If you want to keep your GPU cool while gaming you will need to blast the fan AND play with head phones. At 100% the GPU is about 68db which is almost as loud as a small vacuum cleaner.
So lets recap the problems here.
Just like every other GPU, they do have there flaws. This one being a heat issue and noise. With the heat not only making the card hot but also the entire room that the computer is placed. And having unbearable acoustics. If you can get over the fact of a loud GPU you will be good to go. I recommend getting a water loop going by one of the reputable water cooling companies if you plan on doing any overclocking or just want to keep your room quiet.
Entire review recap.
This is still an AMAZING card even with its few flaws. While the flaws can be a bothersome to few, especially someone like me who lives in the smoldering heat of Phoenix Arizona, the positives far out way the negatives. This card is incredible and is a GREAT single slot solution for the benchmarking enthusiast and or hardcore gamer. On top of this is offered with Amazons incredible support who will be more than happy to assist you if you so happen to not like the card.

|You have to know what you’re doing beforehand,
This card is phenomenal, but the poor folks at Diamond just aren’t qualified to support such an engineering marvel.
It didn’t work out of the box for me, on an ASUS motherboard it just made the screen blank. The flashing of the bios for my ASUS board is a non-starter for me. Too many things can go wrong with that. So, I switched to a Gigabyte MB, and it’s working fine.
I bought this card for an extreme software engineering project, and I’m looking forward to having 5+ TFlops of capability at my fingertips. I recommend buying the little copper stick-on heat sinks to extend the life of the card, and the motherboard around it. The motherboard I’m using has extra copper in the wiring, so it should have better thermal properties. Still, this kind of heat will cause the motherboard to expand and shrink. If you don’t know what you’re doing, buy this pre-installed in a system-engineered and pre-built system. Heat kills electronics, so don’t expect a complete system build running this full bore to last more than 2 years.
AMD’s developer support for this card is bad compared to NVidia, but the capabilities make up for it.

|If you are purchasing this, it’s either your hobby or you have nothing else to spend your money on!!!,
This is not overkill for 3 monitors. And with that said, you could argue that 3 monitors are overkill. Well, don’t knock em till u try em. My second card for quadfire is on the way with an aftermarket cooler (virtually silent with Accelero Twin Turbo!) I highly recommend the aftermarket cooler and a well ventilated case. A cpu for this bad boy should be an overclocked i7 920 and up (highly recommend sandy bridge i5 for dual 6990′s.) None of this is set in stone and its just my opinion entirely based on experiences and reviewer experiences. HardOCP.com has an in depth review of 2 of these cards on a 3 monitor setup if you want a good idea as to what you are buying look at this [...]
Another thing that is overlooked would be sufficient power. I use a 1200 watt gold to take into account my cpu overclock and 2 of these as well as the fact that psu power wattage degrades over time. So there is plenty of juice just in case (AMD asks for 750 watts for a system using one 6990)
A good reason not to get more then one of these from a gaming point of view, is if you fall under the category of a majority of users using one 1080p monitor. If you happen to be getting 60 frames a second on one of these with everything maxed out and you use that resolution, then who cares! Plus, you might actually not get any gains from another $700 card in that resolution anyhow.
If you are playing at a resolution of 5760 x 1080 and have sufficient airflow and power, by all means, get a couple of these! And one last thing, these are a 9 mile to the gallon, 500hp, 10 cylinder SRT 10 Viper Ram 1500! They eat up power, go fast and furious, are heavy duty, and will intimidate your nerdy friend who works on commission at Microcenter, haha!

|It should be easy-to-manage and basic. If you want to check the compatibility of the software with your hardware and the operating software then you need to run it on your system once.
