Picked this up for a new PC build, was going to go with an Asus at a similar price but it wasn’t available for immediate shipment so I decided to give Gigabyte a try. With all of the features of this board I doubt I will be disappointed. Everything installed smoothly. The one complaint I’ve seen is the placement of the SATA ports. While it does seem sort of strange, it didn’t cause a problem in my case (Antec 900). Now, that is a large case so some people doing a build in a smaller case might have some problems but I had several inches of open space in front of the board; didn’t even need the 90 degree cables.
The motherboard also comes with 4 SATA cables (2-90 degree, 2-straight) which I though was generous…that might be standard practice but I haven’t done a build in a while and thought it was nice.

I’m not an extreme overclocker, but I like getting my moneys worth out of a CPU. I didn’t feel like paying close to $200 for a true overclocking motherboard and I wanted the Z68 chipset so I could use the integrated graphics on the i7 2600K I paired with this motherboard.
So its a good deal as a Z68 motherboard but there are other alternatives for less if all I wanted was a motherboard to run a stock speeds with average I/O (USB, SATA, PCIe, etc..).
Overclocking so far has been very disappointing. I’ve been a loyal Asus motherboard customer for my last 3 builds. I’ll be going back to them. This Gigabyte board just doesn’t have the options to enable one to overclock well. Also the layout and terminology of the BIOS isn’t that great. Its much more difficult to work with than Asus.
In the end, the board is working well, but I do regret the purchase. It is not the total package. I should have stuck with an Asus board in the same price range.
BTW the best I can do is get my 2600K to 4.4GHz on 1.33V. Could be a less than average chip but I’m still not please with the limited overclocking options in the BIOS.
