Like the title says. What is better the i7-2600K or the i5-2500K?
I’ve looked around so significantly and it appears to be fairly undecided. My pal is fixated on the i7-2600k and I cant truly blame him, it is the finest of the very best, but judging from what I’ve read it has a poor excuse for costing 100£ far more. Such as useless hyper threading.
I am considering the i5-2500k but i’m worried i’ll both regret it, wonder to myself (I bet the i7 was more rapidly) or see my buddies outperforming mine and RAGE!
I just want everyone’s opinion on these 2 pleaseeee.
I think deep down I want the I7 if for nothing a lot more other than possessing the best, but I will not get it without good reason =/
So can any individual give sufficient bonuses or substantial benefits the i7 has over the i5 that make sense of the price boost?

The i7 is naturally the greater, much better, faster merchandise simply because it’s a quad-core vs the dual-core i5 processor so if you’re worried about your pal obtaining an i7 CPU and outperforming your i5 there you have it.
It also depends on what you may be carrying out with the computer and if you are going to be running applications that can help multiple cores/threads. Some of the i7 CPU’s really report as eight cores in Windows due to the multi-threading technological innovation so if applications can take benefit of that, naturally they will run more rapidly.

Its a tough decision, but ultimately, they are so close for most purposes. Just get the i5 because the performance is so similar anyway. Besides, if you are unhappy with the performance, you can just overclock it; it is the unlocked model.
In respect to gaming their pretty much identical with the i5 2500K jumping ahead in some games and the i7 in others. With only a 100MHz difference the performance difference is negligible. If you’re into rednering, video editing, CAD, many Adobe products like CS5 and other software that can take advantage of the hyper-thread support offered by the 2600K then by all means go for it. If on the other hand you’re just an average user, extreme gamer and don’t delve into the aforementioned tasks then go for the i5 2500K. They both overclock very well. I chose the 2500K and still have yet to see it’s true potential. It is a recipe for a build that must be an informed decision. TO let your 2500K spread its’ wings go for the 560ti/HD6850 minimum and preferably the gtx570 classified/ 6950/6970 or 6990/gtx 580/590if you have truly deep pockets. Even if you have more money to pour into your rig it is useless to go for the 2600K if your a gamer/average user. That money would be better spent on a better GFX card. The performance gain would be a heck of a lot more apparent putting that into a better card. 8GB ram is about all you would ever need for the next few years. You also need an SSD so that your OS will not be held back by an older HDD. The SSD will decrease load times, make your OS run a LOT faster but will not affect gameplay.
