Vga To Hdmi Converter
vga to hdmi converter question by : Would hooking up a mac to hdmi tv work if i use a dvi to vga converter and a vga to hdmi converter?
I have a HD tv and I wanted to connect my mac to my tv. I then bought a dvi to vga and a vga to hdmi converter.
It didn’t work so now i need to know if one of the cables is defective or if the connection itself doesn’t work. And if you know how to fix it, that would really be helpful ^^
Thanks in advance.

I tend to think of VGA as strictly an analog mode, although there are exceptions. But still, I don’t think it will work for that reason.
How about a straight DVI to HDMI converter instead? See the link.
Followup: you’d need to route the audio separately, as DVI is video only.
Aluratek VGA To HDMI Converter
It converts the VGA outputs from your computer to HDMI with resolution up to 1080p and supports analog stereo and outputs the audio over HDMI.

A vga connection is an analog connection. Now what does this mean; for an HDMI connection to work there must be communication from the device to the TV. Since vga is analog this connection cannot be made and the device will not know what resolution to display to the TV. You can go DVI to HDMI though that is what I do.
Yes you can, There are VGA converters and HDMI concerters available for Macs.
